    Talking The perfect balance

    Hi all!
I've been hopping around bars in hk, and mostly Central recently. Its been a bit too much of the same thing, mostly noisy crowd, guys that think they're the man, girls that are too good for anyone. Been looking for places to drink, relax and be yourself.
Know of any bars in hk with the right balance of a good crowd and ambiance?

Are you afraid of "too beautiful grils"????

If you speak of the Western girls, who work here as models, they have the same attitude as in their own country. You may as well forget them.

It's different with Chinese girls. I dare you to try! You'll be very surprised.

Highly recommend some of the pubs we hang out at. No one I know has the need to prove anything.

The problem ... "what is the right balance".. and what your age is. Sounds like you're in the 25ish zone.

Good guess, just a few more years. The right balance would be enough bodies to fill the room, but not too much to become a crowd. Any kind of people with the right kind of attitude, and good music. So which pubs/bars/lounges/clubs you'd recommend.

    NightWalker,

Sometimes I feel that same - want to find a nice place to sit down and relax, without a big crowded or noisy music. LKF is not possible, I'm afraid to say. Usually I will go to Champagne Bar (though some 'young' people criticise it for 'mature people' to which I don't agree!) They have nice female vocal singing chiefly jazz. But it could be busy if there is any special event taken place in The Grand Hyatt, so you'd better check it out if you really want to avoid the crowd.

I agree, LKF might not be an often place. Thanks for the suggestion, will check it out. I will keep searching also and let you know of new places.

I've found the HK nightlife to be a bit of a disappointment. It's not the venues that are the problem but the type of people that frequent them. Almost all the bars are either full of 'socialites' who think they are the dogs bollocks or 50yr olds in suits trying to pull.

However, Ciao Bella in LKF ain't too bad and $32 for a pint of Carlsberg is a bit of a bargain.

Never had a problem just hanging out... probably because we usually go out in a group and cant be half bothered with the rest of the world.

The problem starts when you want to be one of the posh pretty people ... Our bars are definately not in the leage of any mentioned here ...

Brew House, Bull Dogs, Al's Diner, Stormy Weather, Schnubarrts ( been hanging out there for 10+ years), Dolce Vita (reformed pretty people place), Whiskey Priest are highly recommended if you're in the mood for a pint or two.
