@lanre I passed on this thread to someone I know who's young and has lots of friends with bands. Hope he might get in touch. If anything it might be a cheap alternative for late into the night.
You can look for MX, Music Crossing.
They are an up-coming entertainment service provider,
many talented musician from top-notch music school.
As they are new, you might get a reasonable price from them.

Thanks for the tip, but the only thing I found on them online doesn't really match what I'm looking for...
I know this really talented young lady that makes a living cooking fabulous Thai food. The thing is there are a lot of people dont like Thai food and never think to ask her what else she could do. She just happens to be also highly coveted French cook with speciality in pastry. A lady of many talents.
I dont know this bunch but I can tell they are good enough for a wedding and young enough to be cheap. If you talk to them, you may even find out they can do what you want, what you really really want
Give them a yell, you never now and you dont have much to lose....
This (I mean the video) is just part of the thing they do.
As far as I know they can provide various type of music service, and I bet they can do the jazzy music background thing, Kelvin the singer sang "Love never felt so good"- MJ together with the band, in my wedding, during the couple march out. So they can do pop music too.
They are not just a band, they are a group of musicians.
these guys can also sing a few chinese songs to avoid your guests or your embrassment

What I mean they are not a band, means the members are not just people in the video.
You can talk to them first about your wish, and see if they can cope. Many of them are Berkelee's graduate.
