William Dalrymple's The Anarchy. A History of the East India Company in India. Apart from the epilogue where he attempts to draw some silly comparisons between the EIC and modern corporations, it's a fascinating and extremely well written history of the period.

Just finished Christopher Sandford's biography of Victor Lustig. A well researched portrait of one of the most infamous conmen of the 20th century.
