Around the World in 25 films

    Interesting list . . . . topic is a good conversation starter.

25 Best World Travel Movies - Gear Patrol

What films do you think best showcase Hong Kong? Which film do you think paints the least accurate portrait on Hong Kong?

I love the style of "In the Mood for Love." However, I don't know how accurate it portrays that era in Hong Kong since it was long before my time as an expat.

    I love "Chungking Express."

I'm even mildly amused by Rush Hour 2. Particularly the scenes with Chris Tucker's character walking around experiencing things a tourist might experience (Being rustled into a tailor shop to get a suit made in TST, witnessing the near butchering of a live chicken at a wet market, encountering a less-than-courteous taxi driver).

The spectacularly bad TV mini-series of the wonderful novel "Noble House" (starring Pierce Brosnan) offered some great location shots and echos of actual historic HK events.

Those are a few movies off the top of my head.

And how noisy dim sum service can be in tea houses.

I saw that on an Emirates flight in December.

It was surely out last year sometime.

    Buy the way it's terrible.

According to Google it was released last June. We just started up Netflix again and decided to watch it to reminisce about living in Hong Kong. It was really, really bad. I feel sorry for the director, who told the SCMP she invested most of her life savings on the film. I read that she didn't want to say how much the film cost but that it was less than $1 million US. what a waste of money!
