    HBO GO standalone

I see from the Internet that one can get HBO Go as a standalone service without subscribing to the HBO Channels through NOW TV. It is only HKD 88 and one does not have to bother with the NOW TV bundles and get a load of unwanted stuff. Has anyone tried it?

One further question - I went to the HBO Go Asia website. It looks like you can get only the latest season of the shows, like Season 6 for Game of Thrones, but not the earlier seasons. Any idea about this?

    Thanks!

I pay $93 for Netflix 4K and it has a native app for my Samsung TV that allows me to watch on the big screen without an extra box or remote etc. Just finished watching the latest season of The Blacklist and now watching Luke Cage. Quite happy with it. I don't see the need for me to pay more money for HBO Go. I haven't got the time to watch so much TV anyway. One is enough.

I understand, but some shows in HBO are good... Game of Thrones, Veep, Sopranos, ...

Netflix HK is not as good as Netflix US.

There was a Go app on the Xbox marketplace and I recall them promoting it on the apple app store when it launched. You probably need to sign up for a US account.
Netflix HK is rubbish when compared to the US .. Its a shame that they block dns services etc.

Signing up for a US account may not be enough; you would also need a DNS or VPN. That's why I thought the Hong Kong HBO GO might be a good option.

You can sign up for a trial and see if it works with the HK app. They should offer a 2-4 week trial. If it works with the HK app like Netflix does you would not need a VPN.
