I have been to Macao and it is not really a pleasant place to play poker.
I was looking for low level NL games and did not really find any. I think the closest I found was a HKD200/400 table at the Venetian.
Since I have not played for a long, long this almost out of my comfort zone. I used to play USD2/4 and 5/10 online and some live tournaments back in the days.
While I was expecting some lose games I found the table to be extremely tight and unpleasant. Waiting times for a low limit table can be several hours I have been told.
I have not missed playing poker for almost 10 years at all (did miss the easy money though!), only recently I felt the strong urge to play again. My trip to Macao cured me of that.
Friends that still play tell me that the Venetian might have been the wrong place to go. Wynn is supposedly better, but I have never been there.
Good luck!
I too, am here on a short trip. I have been researching online for a quick game as well but all articles and locations seem to be outdated. Not sure if HK Poker House still exists but all the numbers don't work.
I wonder if there are other places that still hold poker games in HK. :\
I read an article about a "city of dreams" place to play. Does it exist?
HK Poker House was shutdown for running illegal gambling operations.
Basically, it's illegal in HK, so goto Macau.
Nep is correct. The games in Macau are ridden with regs and pros, the low table limit means it's impossible for casual players to get a seat as no fish is going to wait hours to get on a table when there are hundreds of empty baccarat tables beckoning them. Wynn has the most tables but also the most regs.
Currently 25/50 is lowest limit but it'll soon be displaced by 50/100 as lowest limit IMO.
25/50 hkd lowest ? Nothing lower?
and those exist on paper only.
I remember when Poker was first introduced to Macau/Chinese back in later 2007/08. It was so easy to make money back then as they didn't have a clue what they were doing.
Ive not played in Macau since then more down to logistics than anything else but there is a pokerstars room at the City of Dreams that holds daily tournaments.
You can find the schedule here PokerStars LIVE Macau - Daily Live Poker Tournaments
Some friends and I hold private games every now and then, one of them has a clubhouse in Northpoint with a poker room.
Any luck? Happy to get connected if there is sort of casual meetup group of Poker. New to HK.
I dont mind cash games but prefer tournament style games
