    Pier 3 is the same.

If only I could discern some common factor...

I was bemused walking around the Escalator on Friday night and seeing how busy it was - definitely no space being kept between tables either.

And then the kind of people than thinks it's OK to hang out there will come out and blame the government and complain when the next wave hits.

There's a lot of people that don't really care if the contract it because from their point of view, they figure they won't die and will likely be asymptomatic. Never mind about others who contract the virus and the fact that community transmission will bring us stricter measures again. They want their candy now and the hell with everyone else tomorrow.

Yes, a lot of thins are frustrating. But jaywalking won't cause another outbreak of COVID; jaywalkers don't contract a virus and then spread it to their friends, colleagues, and strangers. Perhaps a better example is illegal parking along Queen's Road East and outside Prince's Building - this has a serious detrimental effect to the public.

You did neglect to point out that the police are often in attendance on Peel street at around 10pm and use basic crowd control measures to move people on; not the riot shields and rubber bullets type for a change! but a length of cordon tape - a bit like one man and his dog and pretty humorous to watch (and a little more dynamic than pier 3)

I think you'll find the reason that nobody is fined nor arrested is that it's entirely legal to be drinking in public without a mask and the supposed outrage at social distancing is entirely hypocritical when looking at so many other aspects of HK life, a.n.d., I assume, impossible to successfully prosecute in a court of law.

    To much faux outrage

We have been cooped up for half a year already, the cost of lost life lived to every one of us needs to be balanced against the risks of community infection.

I have a lot more sympathy towards risk management when it comes to kids having their studies trashed, years of training of athletes being squandered and small businesses being forced to close. Candy ass entitled expats having to go out drinking? Far far down my list of sympathies vs the higher risks of transmission that it brings. There's already been plenty of clusters in bars, restaurants, parties etc...

F that my kids need to go back to school. I’m sure the Peel Street crowd have had a drink out since June, guess what the kids haven’t been in school since then.

In fairness that’s more due to government attitude and rules than to anything else. If they wanted they could have opened schools on 1 Sept and manage the situation - like many other countries do
