I haven't seen a movie in the cinema in ages. Watching movies at home is nice and all, but there are certain movies which deserves to be watched on the big screen and one of them is certainly Godzilla! Yeah baby! Godzilla vs Kong trailer has been released and looks like Godzilla is trashing...Hong Kong!

Look at the trailer, you could see the Mid-levels getting wasted at the start of the trailer and the Bank of China building is there too:

Is this movie by Tencent pictures as well? Usually movies showing HK these days have China money and needs to show the great CCP as the heroes.

Its a co-production between Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. There was a legal dispute actually between the two over whether them movie was going to get a theatrical release in light of Covid. That got sorted out thankfully so now we are seeing the trailer.

As for CCP-approved messages, I don't know, I don't think they would approve of Hong Kong getting demolished by Godzilla.

there was some discussion on this in the press (AFAIR) a few years ago when Transformers was being filmed. Michael Baye wanted to trash Shanghai (or BEijing?) on film and the CCP said if he did the film wouldn't get a Mainland release. No such objections when HK was used as an alternative.

plus all the Chinese advertisements within that crappy movie, Chinese stars that seem out of place and the wonderful line “the central government will help Hong Kong at all costs” placed in it.
