    Unhappy HK Central socialising

Heya. I'm struggling.... quite a bit, so am keen to hear thoughts.

Been in HK since 2019 so just before covid, but really only know a smattering of people. Im in my 40s, married, but definitely up for beers or clubs with just friends. Mainly just missing being able to have a chat while downing a pint or 2.

No idea how to find a couple of girls/guys looking for the same, that isn't since kind-of dating thing.

Not exactly what you were asking for but you could check out some of the groups on Meet Up:

What's your interests? For eg. I play for a pool team & it's quite social although alot of people take it far too seriously

Thanks for sharing about struggling. As trite as it reads, you are not alone.

I have been struggling with developing new friendships since I moved to Hong Kong.

Would be happy to meet for a drink/activity/hike. Sent you a PM.

Hi - I'd be interested in pool. Used to play a lot about 20 years ago....when I was at university. Is it a league? Sending you a PM.

BTW, living on a island, having a smaller community, kind of helps single out bars and (expat) people. We found it far easier to get to know people, have a sense of community. Maybe it's something you could consider in the future if you're finding it hard to connect in a more urban place.

    Just replied

Yep it is a league and a decent mix of locals/expats. Open to both male/female players & every match must have at least 1 female player

Thanks and yeah that's a good idea. I like pool, but generally if I ever play my pool game takes 3 hours to finish, so I suspect a "serious" game would... be problematic

But yeah things like this, and Meetup are good, but generally very specific (and to be honest, there's not much on Meetup for English-only speakers other then networking things - not quite, but mostly). I guess it's a good start to go to find some things and give it a try though.
