A good pint and a good coffee

In the process of making 'home" home -- there are some things you cannot leave behind.

For me, that is 2 things: a place where you can get a good pint of beer (not to be oblivious of history, but hopefully an english ale); and a place where you can get a good cup of coffee to curl those socks and make your eyes open wide to the morning.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

    thanks for your time,
    mark.

    Shri - what's Buzz beer ?

Recommendations for Manders ( only on the ale part - I'll leave the coffee part to KK)

Good English ale in HK: Hong Kong football club in Happy Valley. Abbott Ale on tap and London Pride, Waggledance, Ruddles in bottled versions. Also on tap: Guinness, Budvar.

Other good places for pints: Beer Garden in Sunning Plaza opposite Lee Gardens - for American microbrews; East End Brewery in the same venue and at Quarry Bay for brews by the HKSAR brewery; Globe on Hollywood road and Beligos at Taikoo Place for Belgian beers; Dublin Jack at Central for Guinness; Caledonia in Central for Scottish ales ...

    Shock!!!!! Horror!!!!!

    yo gf
in your trip around the territory [teri tori meri tori] you seemed to have bypassed RT in Tai Wai, where all good things come to roost, or is it too good to make it on any list.
re: coffee there is of course only one place in the whole of HK for the brew.
For some reason I can't remember the name, possibly because I haven't had my java today-but its on Old Bailey Street just off Caine Road and it is the only place I know that will sell you unroasted beans. Also you will get a look of immense pity from the owner if you ask for more then half a pound, as freshness is everything to him. About the only thing you can't get here, is a cup of coffee.

From the Drew Carrey show. The rocket scientists on the show brew a coffee flavored beer to satisfy two addictions.

KK - the shop you're eulogising about is Graeco-Roman Coffee on Old Bailey street. The oldest coffee shop in Hong Kong. Possibly also the oldest coffee shop owner in Hong Kong.

I've bought beans and ground coffee from there a couple of times. Nowadays I love buying from the coffee section at Great ( Pacific place). Not only do they have some of the finest stuff but also the salesperson ( name: Steven or Spencer I think) is very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic and will roast and grind your choice to the exact colour and degree that you specify.

    yo gf
I did not mention the name because it is a bit of a mouthful, and you almost got it right. it is of course The Olympia Graeco Egyptian Coffee., 24 Old Bailey Street Ground Floor tel 2522 4653. I had occasion to go there today , being in dire need of 1/2 a lb of their house blend, which is a steal @$22.00.

Thanks for the resurrection cinnamon[you sound good enough to give a coupe of swirls in my coffee mug]
The House Blend at The Olympia Graeco Egyptian Coffee is now $25 for half a pound. Expresso Blend is $30.
