Lightbulb Hong Kond Disney Land expansion

I went recently to Disney Land, the typhoon signals caused attractions to close, but the rain meant less visitors and it was a special cheap rate at the hotel. As you probably already aware it's really small, several of the attractions are actually closed for summer undergoing renovation to boot. There is only one mini-roller coaster, Space Mountain, and you can only take the Buzz Lightyear ride a few times before needing a change. So very excited to hear about the expansion plans from Disney and the HK government.

Have a look at these maps though,

The expansion being discussed isn't the big phase 2 area to the south, its the tiny yellow area between the current park and the hotels. A new map fills in the area showing the attractions,

Toy Story Land looks like small stalls, Mystic point might be another theatre, and Grizzly Trail is a train ride.

Doesn't look like HK$5 billion goes far does it?

I don't understand why they ( the HKSAR govt ) are so willing to waste such vasts amount of money, on what will eventually be, a flogged, dead horse enterprise.

Shanghai Disney is going to obliterate HK Disney into insignificance, when it starts operating.

I still maintain they should scrap the whole Disney franchise idea, spend 5 billion on changing HK Disney into HK HELLO KITTY World, and watch the cash registers go KAAA CHING ! It will make squillions ! Imagine the endless waiting list of Hong Kong couples, wanting to marry in the presence of Asia's most famous, mouth less cat !

    >> eventually be, a flogged, dead horse enterprise.

Eventually? You mean it is a thriving profitable venture right now?

Based on the area stated on the map they are adding about 30%.
