The apology on the front door of Feather Boa

So, I just noticed this this weekend in the light; there's a hand-written apology on the door next to it, also explaining how he spent thousands of dollars in compensation to the bar too for this incident. Who is Duncan Findlay and what did he do that night?

Around that time last year a bunch of 'bankers' got drunk and trashed the place. They pulled the fixtures off the wall etc.

    Interesting.

I used to go there all the time, but haven't been back since I was refused entry (by the Chinese staff) because I had a Chinese girl with me.

I am amazed they could find the space to move around in there. It's always way too packed to even reach the bar.

I must say Mr. Findlay's written English is pretty poor - perhaps the ability to express oneself effectively isn't one of the job requirements for "bankers"...?

I go there from time to time as all my friends still seem to love the place - despite the fact that the brother and sisters who own and run the joint have some serious attitude problems. I figured after a while the best way to deal with them is to shout back and be rude back (I get the attitude from them even worse as I'm not white).

Scotch - Would not have put you down as someone who would spend money to face attitude from an establishment that clearly has a racist service policy.

I'd rather deal with an illiterate banker in my group than someone who is educated and condones the attitude of that bar.

Bit harsh there Shri. You know how it works though - when you're out in a group of 10+, it's not always the thing to do to stop everyone in their track and announce that "I don't think we should go there because I do not condone this and that". I would never go there out of my own choice, but equally I do not believe in confronting everyone everytime and make a big speech over it whenever a venue isn't to my taste.

Sorry if that means I don't fit into "your group".

By patronising that place I think you are condoning their racist policies. So, while I also wouldn't normally stand up to a group of 10 and say no I don't like such and such a place, for that establishment I'd be more than willing to do so.

But thats how I feel about people who go to this bar and then whinge about it. Stop bloody going there.

I'd break away from the crowd if I was being forced to go to that place.
