the crazy thing is that even if that test worked it would not make a difference to most people.
We already know that life is not infinite, that death can occur any time, without warning, what it takes is to act on that knowledge. from thought to action.....

That's the point the article is making, Morrison. Everyone knows one thing for sure - that they will die. Why do people put off the things we want to do?

This is really poingant for me and my other half. We are working very hard and will be for the next five or so years to pay off the mortgages and be able to then enjoy our lives more fully.

If I had a blood test today and the results showed I would die in five years time, would I change my approach? I am not sure. I probably would work harder to leave more behind so the lady and the dogs didn't have to worry. Would be worse to know, I think!

"Why do people put off the things we want to do?"

I think it's because people are habituated and/or social pressure.

    That's very noble of you.
    However, nothing is permanent.

    from my link

"Either way, instead of vaguely thinking that “one day” I might like to visit Australia, or write a book, or have children, I’d be forced to get on with it."

perhaps we are just lazy, we don't want to force ourselves ?
We don't want to expose ourselves to such an unpleasant thought/inconvenient truth?
