    HSBC efficiency at its best

HSBC efficiency at its best. HSBC still have some money on my MPF account, so every time I move I have to inform them of my new address, despite that I am normally not banking with them for the past 10 years or so.

So, I call them and ask. Alright, fill in form from their web site and fax. Said and done.

Next thing, I get a letter to my new address saying they can't proceed with this since I need to fill in an additional form and bring it to a branch in person.

Alright, went to a branch with said form and all seems ok.

Next thing I get is a letter to my new address that they can't proceed with my request because they don't have a signature specimen on account, I need to go to a branch.

Okay, went to branch again and gave them what they asked for.

Today, I received a call and they asked me to go to a branch and do the 'address change' in person but first they wanted to confirm everything including size of my underwear just to make sure they are speaking to the right person. WTF?

Sometimes I am really wondering if I am on a different planet.

Thats the sort of shit I really hate. They offer on-line banking, with password protection etc, so if that is all good and secure enough for you to be able to withdraw money, you should easily be able to do all that other stuff on-line without going to a fxxing HSBC branch.

I think it's more of a "Compliance says no" kind of case...

I honestly figured that all HK banks were like this. My experience with BoCHK and SC didn't improve my opinion in the slightest.

For being a "financial hub" they're pretty behind in the times.

100LL you need to chill. Try calling 1000, PCCW's "hotline" and see how fast you can get hold of a human being!

Very relaxing working your way through all the menus, none of which give you the human option.

it's becos the system was designed before the internet,,

    its all over HK -

for example for jobsDB - an online recruitment site - imagine my horror when I found I had to conveniently fax them everytime I advertised... basically I cancelled my fax line as all I ever got was spam thru it..
but an online business site doesnt accept an online payment? and you must fax in forms to tell which package you require??>

for PCCW - suggest for the true human experience - go to 9th floor mong kok exchange... the real advantage is you can return and throttle the guy who screwed it up for you...
