A rare error, jgl? Google Ngram disagrees with you.

    Turnstyle!

I am interested and surprised by this spelling, or mis-spelling, which I saw for the first time here in Geoexpat. I don't think that "scholars, fusspots" and I would ever accept it.

    - - - -

    I then wrote, ironically:

    Put me in a straightjacket.

But my Spellcheck accepts that spelling!

    (It should be straitjacket.)

If you have the energy you can edit wikipedia. The spelling 'turnstyle' was added to that article on March 28, 2016 - seems wrong.
