    My comment to my former colleague was actually said tongue in cheek, although yes, Australia is racist not only to some other nationalities, but also to Aussies who have returned back to Oz, and waxed lyrical about their time overseas. One reason why we left was that , unfortunately, there exists this incredibly biased patriotism by many Australians ( most of who have not travelled or only to Bali) that there must be something wrong with you for wanting to live anywhere else but Australia.

    Then again, racism exists everywhere. I remember distinctly watching two German students harrassing an Asian student on the train station in Basdorf, telling him to " go home, he doesn't belong here ( Germany) ".
