    White people made Levi's jeans...

The buyers, who each sell vintage clothing, were able to identify the jeans’ age thanks to a number of clues: a missing logo stamp, suspender buttons and a single pocket on the seat, among other indicators.

Another mark of the jeans’ age: a label inside says they are “the only kind made by white labor”.

In ten years wikipedia´s budget has grown from 10 to $112 M - but the funding is not going where you think it is - it's cheaper to host wikipedia today than it was in 2010.

Seems like it's mostly a bunch of rakes and hoes? Although the second one seems to be swinging around a big cockerel

People did a lot of interesting things to speed up information flow from the NYSE

In 1837, officials at the NYSE discovered that “curb traders” (non-NYSE members) had drilled a hole in the institution’s brick exterior. Why?

During the 1830s, a chain of optical telegraphs was constructed to transmit information between New York and Philadelphia. Using this system, investors could relay information between the two cities in just 10–30 minutes, which was a significant informational advantage in this period.

UBS execs don't trust or read American news publications.. or something like that..

    Spotted in the FT..

On stage the comments were fairly tame, but UBS chair Colm Kelleher raised eyebrows when he joked that “we’re not reading the American press, we actually buy the [China] story”. The comment came after a senior Chinese regulator said global investors had misread China’s intentions and should stop reading the international media.
