    2022 - Today I learned that ...

There is something called a Y2K22 bug in some software.

@bdw - did you have to get up and patch servers?

This wasn't due to a change on 31st Dec. The problem is caused by an integer overflow error: the anti-malware component is converting the date/time into "YYMMDDHHMM" format and storing it as a signed 32-bit number (max value 2147483648). So, in Dec 2021, the number would start with "2112..." (below the threshold). In Jan 2022, the number would start with "2201..." (above the threshold).

Crap, another one? I've been busy patching servers that are vulnerable to the Log4j issue, this one was not on my radar. Come to think of it, a few users complaining they dont receive emails or something, I just assume they are idiots and dont give them much attention, might have to have a look at it

Kazakhstan is a major bitcoin hub... or something like that.

Kazakhstan is a power player in the bitcoin world. Last year, the nation became the world’s second-largest center for bitcoin mining after the United States, according to the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, after China, a major hub, clamped down on crypto mining activity. As of August, Kazakhstan was hosting 18% of global bitcoin mining, according to Fortune.

Somewhat related, seems Toyota cars couldn't switch dates over to 2022 too.

Seems like more crap went wrong with Y2K22 compared to Y2K ... remember being on a call at about 12:10AM that night and had to report "nothing happened" ...

There really is a market for just about anything:

I don't know whether it's more disturbing that someone thought there might be a market for this or that she was right and people were actually willing to put down cold hard cash for it ...

The 'fartrepreneur' wound up in the hospital with fart-related distress from her high-fiber diet.
The poor thing, the fart business pressure was too much
