    Best TV Shows 2023

Not sure if there is another thread about this.

Spotted in the NYT .. some news about two of my all time favorites ... Hope they live up to expectations.

These revivals will be greeted with much good will, though what they might need is liniment. John Larroquette returns at 75 in “Night Court,” with Melissa Rauch as the judge, who is the daughter of Harry Anderson’s character from the original. Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith, 71 and 79, return in “That ’90s Show” as the grandparents of the lead, a teenager played by Callie Haverda who’s the daughter of the characters played by Laura Prepon and Topher Grace in “That ’70s Show.” (NBC, Jan. 17; Netflix, Jan. 19)

Made me think of @hullexile as the premise is a son-in-law trying to find is Hull-based MIL a place to retire in sunny Spain.

friendly suggestion: Due to long tradition, this topic should be renamed Best TV Shows 2022

Anyway, I saw season 1 of Alice in Borderland

Rather strange. Due to my lack of Japanese I watched the dubbed English version and the translation was rather poor. Season 2 is out too, not sure I will watch that.

I tend to like watching in the native language - the dubs are rarely done by quality narrators / voice over people and tend to be flat and monotonous ...

So...The Last of Us started strong with its first episode, and has right now around 9.4 on IMDB. I guess HBO is doing HBO.

For the the uninitiated, this is an adaptation from what many consider "the pinnacle on gaming storytelling" (BBC dixit). So it's based off of a videogame, and a really good one at that. With Pedro Pascal, the GoT Ramsey little girl, and the director/producer they used for Chernobyl. So yeah, going big on this one.

Episode 3 may show up on "Top 10" list of best individual episodes from any given acclaimed TV series, ever. It's up there with "Middle Ground" from the Wire, "Long Term Parking" from Sopranos, or "Crawl Space" from Breaking Bad. Simply a showstopping performance from Nick Offerman

Son's been going on about this show. Was a bit "whatever" about it considering its based on a video game.

Will figure out how to watch and will watch.

Alice in Borderland is very good, much better than Squid Game.
