Best BIG sports stadium you have been to?

Trying to exclude your home club bias - what is the best big stadium (over 50K) you have been to.

Please exclude HK Stadium as it is retired / too small

aren't you breaking your own rules there?

Kilkenny v Galway at Croke Park?

I prefer watching on telly cause I'm a stingy c**t. But my favourites I have been to...

We went to SoFi stadium in Los Angeles to watch NFL in December 2023. I know nothing about NFL but the stadium and the atmosphere there was so amazing that I was really blown away, later I saw NHL in Vegas and even went to the Sphere as well but the coolest experience for me was the SoFi stadium for sure. Tickets were really pricy but it was worth every cent to get that special experience.

For experience for me it was the old Holte End at Villa Park. The one terrace at its peak held 30,000 standing. I used to try and stand left side about three quarters up but first come first positioned. Then when the crowd started surging holding your place could be fun.

In no particular order apart from the first one which actually fails the 50,000 test.

Phillips Stadium (PSV Eindhoven) for Portugal v England. Unsurprisingly given it is Phillips the sound system was awesome and could be heard from a long way off. Inside the stadium it was incredible.

Millenium Stadium, Cardiff. The beauty of this is the proximity to the city centre and its wonderful bars. Went there 3 times in 2 seasons with Southend.

The old Wembley. Yes it was falling apart but an evening game under the floodlights was magical. I actually played there in a corporate game before it shut down (also played at Loftus Road and Kenilworth Road (and Roots Hall which doesn’t count under these rules).

Nou Camp Barcelona, for the all round weekend away experience of a wonderful City.

Others include St James Park (Newcastle not Exeter ha ha) Old Trafford.. Leeds Road, the old Huddersfield ground, Hillsborogh.

The old White Hart Lane, Upton Park or Elland Road for best atmospheres.

Before moving to HK I’d visited just about every ground in the lower two divisions and maybe about 30 percent of the remainder.

Still have an old firm derby on the bucket list.

Not forgetting my favourite England awayday despite the result v Argentina at St Etienne. I was out of my face long before the Charter plane left from Stansted. We actually flew to St Etienne airport (as did the England team) rather than Lyon for most other fans.
