Reminds me of a sign I saw in Singapore outside an education centre: "Learn to speak good English"

Yes, your European partner saved you!

And what do you mean "a US education"? Please explain!

    Indeed!

Partly it is because the US starts wars all the time, and we (as well as everybody else in the world) don't like it.

And partly it is because the European TV networks and news websites keep talking about the US, even things that we have no reason to care about: health care reform, politics, even icy storms in Washington. Or then they talk about things the US likes/doesn't like (Iran, North Korea, etc. Just look at the BBC website. It's basically about the US, with a few news from other countries). Who cares? Why do they keep talking about the US? Can you please make them stop?

Possibly because US politics reach further than just the US itself, having an impact on the entire world. The thought of a moron like Palin to run for president, potentially winning (god forbid!) and then dictating US' foreign policies is of concern, not just for Europeans but also for any other nation.

    Ignorance is bliss.

Right the Europeans have not started a war in 60 years. Unless you start counting all those empires collapsing after WWII. Or that Bosnian thing. Or if you include "Russia" in "Europe". And most the time Europe agrees with America, you just like to score peace points while hiding behind the US. If that 9/11 thing had not happened, you would not have Iraq and Afghanistan. Hard to tag the US with starting those messes. And the first Gulf War was UN sanctioned, despite the fact that no countries in the world like the US starting wars.

OK, compare 1) the wars started by the US, 2) US Backed Coups, 3) US support of terrorist organisations, 4) direct terrorist activities by the US government, etc. to the same things by European countries, during the last 60 years. This might help: KryssTal : Why The USA?

Indeed. I can't stand when EU politicians do that! Like kidnapping people and torturing them to death. The EU politicians knew that the US was doing it, but they didn't stand up to them.

Not everybody is like Blair of course, but I wish more people would be like Dominique De Villepin who at least dared speaking up against the crimes against humanity committed by the rogue state.

I would prefer if the Iraqi and Afghani had Iraq and Afghanistan...

    Eh? Who started these messes?

And who sold chemical weapons to Iraq? Who trained Osama Bin Laden???

Indeed, and that's why there was a coalition fighting them including France, while Germany paid all the bills.

Oh right. The US as the sole, root cause of all evil in the world. As viewed the the rose-colored glasses of an anti-American who thinks that, if only the US would mind its own business the world would be awash in flowers and peace and the lions would be lying down with the lambs.
Had the Taliban handed over Osama, they would still be in charge of Afghanistan. And, I think, that would have made the Iraq war less likely. However, I think the Iraq war was partially a family grudge and GW might have done it anyway.
And it is hard to argue that Iraq was better off under Saddam and Afghanistan better off under the Taliban. Not that the US really fixed anything, just made it differently bad, at least for now.
I leave you with two from Teddy (Roosevelt)--

It may be that at some time in the dim future of the race the need for war will vanish; but that time is yet ages distant. As yet no nation can hold its place in the world, or can do any work really worth doing, unless it stands ready to guards its rights with an armed hand.

Diplomacy is utterly useless when there is no force behind it; the diplomat is the servant, not the master of the soldier.

You will, of course, disagree on both counts. As will many others. The world would be a better place if you were right, I just do not think you are.

PS. To an early post about conservatives/liberals and policies, there was a great quote from the US the other day; something like "both parties are to blame. The Democrats tax and spend, the Republicans simply spend". Maybe someday we'll see if cutting spending and taxes is any better. (Those would be my rose-colored glasses.)

We ain't calling the US the sole root cause of all evil in the world. They just get a little loud with their USA is the best country in the world is all. Any where there are humans, it's going to be screwed up -- that's just humanity, unfortunately. Anti-americanism doesn't work because the US is so big and divided, with many many americans disagreeing to what the rest of america is saying/doing/thinking. But it's like, how could your blood not boil when you hear something some idiot on Fox News says something that spreads lies and hatred in society? Everywhere there will be people like that, but because the USA has been such a high profile country, your idiotic people stand out a lot more than usual...

I do not watch it often, but seems to me Fox News is all about the reactions they can provoke. That they are intentionally trying to get everyone's blood boiling because it means better ratings and more ad dollars.
Much like every other news organization, you have to screen out the method of delivery and biases. Fox is not "fair and balanced" it simply balances out places like CNN, ABC, CBC, NBC which are off on the left.
And I am not sure why Fox is any worse than tagging this thread "Mrs. Hitler"; different sides of the same coin. Or it it okay to reason that it is okay for me to label every right wing guy/gal I disagree with as "Hitler" but calling Obama a "socialist" is out-of-control raving?
