Was he having a bad day ?
Isn't this old news? He agreed to do the interview on the basis that it was solely about the band and that they didn't mention his film career. When the host went on and on about the film stuff he decided they if they weren't going to play ball then he wasn't either?
Regardless that its old news or not.
I just found the clip then, and as I have always enjoyed movies that Billy Bob starred in, I just thought it was a really bizarre interview.
Awkward as, in a really passive aggressive, mind pharqing kind of way.

Well, technically the host didn't go on and on about BBT's film career at all before he started acting like an idiot. He was in a pissy mood from the get go. Yes, the host mentioned who he is and a brief profile of him but that's expected. BBT is clearly strung out to high hell on something and is just in a pissy mood.
I do have much respect for him for romping around with Angelina for a while but he seems like an ultimate A hole here.
He's being an ass, the interviewer is trying hard
Yeah I agree about the interviewer, he really carefully tread through that train wreck of an interview, keeping his composer. Probably one of the most difficult on air experiences he's had. Good on him, he did well, considering.
What video did you watch? Jian Ghomeshi the interviewer -as he said - noted it for context and did not ask a single question about the movies. Like Jian says it would be odd to not mention that he is movie guy also.
Two days later the band abandoned the tour with Willie Nelson and Ray price after getting booed off stage in Toronto (where the interview took place).
I felt kind of sorry for his band with their leader proving he is nothing but a dick head. Ghomeshi's show is on throughout North America and if it is like many other CBC radio shows gets a lot of repeat action.
Willie Nelson and Ray Price couldn't have been impressed as the opening band is to get the audience somewhat in the mood for the big act.

I watched the video where the bulk of the interviewer's introduction was about BBT the actor/director/scriptwriter. My understanding is that he had asked them before the interview not to mention anything about his movie career and just to talk about the band.
There is no excuse for acting like an ass when the interviewer is being polite and trying to do his job. He wasn't at all focusing on it, he mentioned it in passing as context. Glad to hear he was treated the same way by the Toronto crowd. He got what he deserved though it's unfortunate for his band mates who seemed pretty nice and were way more cooperative and articulate than he was...
I saw Sean Penn interviewed by Larry King recently and heaven knows that guy can be difficult. The interview was about Haiti and his involvement, King tried to steer the subject towards politics but Penn did a masterful job of putting King in his place politely but firmly and reminding him what the topic was and how important it was to him even though he was pressed a couple of times. Came out looking like a pro and I'm sure it did wonder for his cause unlike Thornton who certainly didn't help himself or his band with this kind of attitude.
