It doesn't mention Hong Kong, but given the scale of the tsunami warning - as far as Hawaii and the Philippines - is there any chance of it impacting on Hong Kong? A tsunami down the harbour is not a nice thought.
The quake appears to be off the east coast of Japan, so I think the chances of it hitting Hong Kong must be small, given that Japan itself is in the way. Looks pretty nasty though, my colleagues in Tokyo can see buildings on fire. I just saw live pictures of the tsunami sweeping buildings, cars and people away in Sendai. It's horrific.
Im no expert, but we should be shielded by the Southeastern coast of China. Unless tsunamis learn how to make right turns.
Taiwan is on the list in the tsunami warning (to hit betwee 5:30pm and 6pm today) so it can get there, but I imagine Taiwan itself would shelter Hong Kong.
I hope it hasn't hit many built up areas but it has penetrated at least 1km inland in some places - obliterating anything in it's path.
