Many peace loving Americans who study history to learn the truth about their government remain loyal or undecided when reading about American expansionism and the Monroe doctrine. Almost always, it is the US invasion of the Phillipines that convinces them that the US govt was in the wrong, and was building an evil empire.

Before the Bay of Pigs invasion, the CIA leaked the battle plan to Castro forces. The Crushing defeat of the CIA trained Cubans was supposed to force John Kennedy to send in the US Navy. Kennedy refused to invade Cuba, so the CIA got something else they wanted anyway. The news media blasted Kennedy as a coward and a traitor to Cuban refugees in the US. Either way, the CIA handed Kennedy a loss of face.
Good point. I agree there are times when it is actually advantageous to let slip of you intention to your adversary.

Although in this case, I don't think this is what the Chinese is doing (or wants to do). I could be wrong of course, but I don't see any advantages the Chinese could gain from their enemies by slipping their plans in advance here. If you look at some of their prior conflicts, it was always a surprise attack (i.e. the Korean war, when the Americans were surprised by the mass human wave attacks or the Sino-India war of 1962, when the Indians were stunned and caught unprepared by a sudden Chinese attack).

Along with eight of the fourteen US Ohio class Trident Nuclear Missile submarines now deployed to the "Pivot to Asia". 8 submarines x 24 tridents x 4 nuclear warheads each = 768 bombs of 100 KT each (8 times the size of the Hiroshima bomb) = 76,800 Kilo tons of nuclear power just waiting for you to push the button. Let's see 8 X 768 = 6144. You could blow up Hiroshima 6 thousand times. WOW!!!

And if you get bored with that power, you can just over ride the stragetic arms limitation treaty and double the number of warheads from 4 to 8 giving you 153,600 kilotons. Now you have the power of Hiroshima times 12,000. Fucking japs must be shitting their pants in fear of you.... You must really feel like King Kong. Keep pounding your chest, brother.

And toasting 1.3 billion chinks.... piece of cake........ one warhead each for Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Hong Kong............

A common clandestine operations tactic. Leak false news about the opponent's evil intentions.

Much more effective than leaking your own battle plan.
