Time person of the year 2014

Our boy Wong is currently number three.

It would be a real kick in the teeth if he did win, but my vote goes to local boy Modi.

Wasn't the Pope already chosen before as person of the year by Time? Nothing to prevent him being chosen again I suppose, but I think Time will prefer to find someone else this time.

The editors chose the winner anyway so that current poll doesn't mean anything.

Some of those "candidates" seem utterly bizarre. Several appear to be on the list merely for doing their jobs or getting elected... how is that important? I would only vote for people who are special or whose activities mark them as extraordinary.

Modi offers hope but let's wait and see if he can actually get things done

The Pope is less atrocious than the last 2-3 popes. Is that enough to make him person of the year? A friendlier face with very little real reform is hardly enough to be the best person out of 7,000,000,000

Its less about what accomplishment they achieved and more about how newsworthy they are. Being highly accomplished and being worthy of media attention is not always the same thing, hence some questionable candidates.

As Time Person of the Year 2006, I agree with you
