I think I would go for being blown to bits by an anti-aircraft missile rather than being torn to shreds by a pack of dogs like the last poor bastard.

Just remember this story when you find yourself nodding off in a meeting.

Be glad you won't be purged or executed next time you fall asleep during a meeting...

A couple of years ago there was a crazy report that a former girlfriend of Kim Jong Un had been executed after she and her theatrical colleagues had made a pornographic film and sold it to China.

Recently there was a crazy report that a senior minister had been torn to death by dogs.

Now there is a crazy report (almost immediately retracted) that another minister has been killed by anti-aircraft guns.

Please be sceptical. The South Korean intelligence agencies are gullible, over-excitable, and stupid.

I lost any respect for them because of an episode when I was living in the country.

It was seriously speculated that Kim Il Sung was dead because he had not been seen for a couple of weeks, and because a flag - one flag - in the Demilitarized Zone had reportedly been seen flying at half-mast.

Of course, he was alive and must have been amused. His own intelligence agencies were not so silly.

The South Korean papers carried a picture of a flag at the top of the pole, explaining that this was the flag that was said to have been flying at half-mast. They didn't even have a photo as evidence. Naïve and incompetent!

While I can believe quite easily that the S. Korea intelligence service makes things up / gets things wrong, what evidence do you have that they are "crazy reports" apart from your one example.

We know for a fact (insofar as there are any N Korean facts) that the report of the 'execution' of his old girlfriend was false. See 'Executed' Kim Jong-Un girlfriend reappears on North Korea television - Telegraph.

Knowing the extreme repression of the N Korean system, to allege that she and her colleagues had made a pornographic video and sold it in China really does seem to indicate an imagination and an antagonism so inflamed that they could be called crazy.

As it happens, at the time I managed to see what purported to be the video in question. She was dancing alone on a stage in front of the curtain to a piece of western popular music - an empty theatre as at the end there was canned applause. Of course, she was fully dressed; her skirt wasn't even short. During the dance she took off - she took off her - she took off her jacket.

By coincidence, two threads titled 'North Korea' were started yesterday. I made a fairly long post on the other thread. https://hongkong.geoexpat.com/forum/...ead319189.html
