Traumatized by 3 Years at Rikers Prison Without Charge as a Teen, Kalief Browder Commits Suicide

This is very sad. A 16 year old arrested for stealing a backpack, put in prison 3 years without trial, then case dismissed and boy discharged. Now committed suicide.

They did, and the trial is probably going to take 5 years. The kid is dead already. What a sad story!

Kalief Browder, 1993–2015 - The New Yorker

he spent more than one thousand days on Rikers waiting for a trial that never happened. During that time, he endured about two years in solitary confinement, where he attempted to end his life several times.
The poor kid, the whatever system failed him badly, heads must roll, i hope the family does get its millions of dollars as some form of compensation even though it will not bring the kid back to life.

    Sad, pathetic, unjustifiable.
