Is the UK really the best place in Europe for such labor and sun intensive industries?

Is the UK the most appropriate place for soft fruit to be grown. Bad Climate and soon to be expensive workers.

Years of cheap labour have resulted in minimal investment in productivity improvements. This should now change. Romanian workers should be replaced by automation and robots!

i don't think you can call it bad climate. different fruits grow in different climates - apples and pears grow well in UK, mangoes and bananas don't for example.

however, i agree with your other point. Societies adapt to survive. Before the low wages meant there was no incentive to invest in automation or machinery. But now the incentive is there and it will happen quickly.

Looking at the front page of today's Telegraph, I clearly see them backing BoJo as PM
