Slippery slope to papers printing the truth and not muck-raking? Let us hope so. I would love to see a thousand libel cases a day, perhaps then they would change.

Gold star, Hull. I think old-school papers will welcome the culling of the herd. Traditional media outlets have (tried) to hold to journalistic standards. Gossip rags simply want to break news faster and bigger than everyone else, facts be damned. No one remembers the hundreds of mistakes (I'm being generous with this term) an outlet like TMZ reports if they net one big scoop ahead of everyone else. The Times misspells one name in 3-thousand world story and there is hell to pay for.

It is mind numbing that they argue over the style

APA (American Psychological Association) is used by Education, Psychology, and Sciences
MLA (Modern Language Association) style is used by the Humanities
Chicago/Turabian style is generally used by Business, History, and the Fine Arts

Surely Google, Microsoft and Adobe could sit in a room for an hour and agree the metadata format for digital documents to capture this stuff properly.

You might want to look over Mr. Thiel's entire body of work before declaring that.
