    Happy Diwali!

We'd like to wish all our Indian visitors a Happy Diwali and Saal Mubarak.

For those of you who are not Indian - don't forget to wish the next Indian you run into.

    For the unaware:

Serious question...is it offensive to, for example, people from Pakistan if you wish them a Happy Diwali?

Not to them. They'll just go .. "Who is this dumb fuck who think all brown people are the same?!?" if they're Muslim.

We're used to white people and their stereotypes.

(Yes, there are plenty of Hindus in/from Pakistan - usually from Sindh and known as "Sindhis" - large community in HK, but most of them identify as Indians or HKers)

    From Wiki:

For example, at the international border, every year on Diwali, Indian forces approach Pakistani forces and offer traditional Indian sweets on the occasion of Diwali. The Pakistani soldiers anticipating the gesture, return the goodwill with an assortment of Pakistani sweets.

Okay. Well I have a German and a Russian friend who both tell me people can’t seem to accept that English is their second language.
In many Islams it’s haram to return the greeting of any non-Islamic festival…for example…that’s why I ask…
