    There is certainly a market for the big notes if you are willing to take a loss. Some Indian tailors in TST will take the currency and give you HKD - although the exchange rate is not great. But, better than loosing everything if you have no plans to go to India in the next month, and do not want the hassle of trying to change your notes once you are there.

    HSBC just told me they are not accepting any Indian currency "at this time". Not sure if any banks here are accepting it.
