New Delhi just banned all forms of disposable plastic in its capital

India’s capital city Delhi has introduced a ban on disposable plastic.Cutlery, bags, cups and other forms of single-use plastic were prohibited by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

There is particular concern in the country about the amount of plastic waste it produces. According to the Times of India, [India, along with 3 other big polluters] is responsible for an astonishing 60 per cent of the plastic that is dumped in the world’s oceans every year.

The ban affects the whole National Capital Territory (NCT) area of Delhi.
Good on the Indian National Green Tribunal for acknowledging that the problem originated from within their own borders and also for actually doing something about it. Easy to blame another country for the trash problem which is good for scoring brownie points with your constituency but doesn't really get anything done.

Angeles City here has just banned all plastic bags. A lot more effective than a small charge. Paper bags are a pain though when you are carrying loads of shopping! Will remember to take the reusable bag now I know.

good to see that standards in India and other countries are leaving Asia's World City in the dust.

India is even in the process of mandating a minimum wage and welfare for those that are living rough. Which is a great step in the right direction.

they'll be forcing supermarkets to stop throwing perfectly edible food away, and get them to give it to the poor like France does, if they keep down this road.

    Good to see
