List of usually popular travel destinations one should avoid right now?

Are the current risks in places like France, South Korea, Philippines etc. overstated in mainstream media or should they just be on "No Go" list until further notice?

I would avoid Mindanao in the Philippines but otherwise fine. France and South Korea fine too.

Ocean Park on a weekend. Otherwise, the world is your oyster.

Don't go anywhere because not doing so is a victory for the terrorists. Go somewhere because you have evaluated the risks and are confident that the government of that country takes those risks seriously.

Go to France because they do take the risk of terrorism seriously. Go to France because they invest in counter-terrorism measures that stop most attacks before they happen. Go to France because they secure the tourist sites that you are likely to be going to, and while the presence of heavily-armed security forces might be disconcerting, be grateful that they are able to respond in seconds in the unlikely event that anything untoward might occur.

While you might hear the cries in Western Europe of 'we're not going to let terrorism stop us' from the general public, they are only able to do this because their securities forces are taking terrorist threats seriously and acting on their behalf to protect them.

Yup, and while you're making your stand against terrorism by going up the Eiffel Tower as if nothing has changed, mind you don't slip and hit your head on the assault rifles carried by the 3 French army guys standing guard outside the second x-ray security checkpoint you been through before you even get to the foot of the tower.

Some numerical information. However it does not quantify the risk for civilians especially foreign tourists. For example, because this is the one I know, in the Philippines most of the deaths will be between Communist/Muslim rebels and the army/police in the jungles of the south. Unless you plan to take your holiday in rebel controlled areas.....

This thread mainly highlights the complete inability of many people - including the OP by the look of it - to understand and rationally evaluate risk.

You are muc more likely to die in a car accident , anywhere, than be a victim of terrorism in Europe or Asia. The only places worth avoiding are war zones and close seconds, eg Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan. None of which are on most peoples bucket list anyway.
