    Whoever's land your standing on. No man's land just means it's a restricted area between two borders. The actual border is a line, not a zone.

    It's a story about a fairly silly situation, but that guy displayed some astoundingly bad judgement.

    He had to leave the country every six months, but even with all the media reports of US border crossing problems, left it till 10pm on the last day to try to hop into another country. Even if the Canadians had refused him entry instantly instead of wasting a couple of hours, he would still have been stuck in the US with no way to get out of the country in time.

    in no man's land, only your rights are curtailed, but the govt can exercise all its laws.

    The guy wasn't the sharpest tack in the box. Not only did he leave it late, what he was trying to do (they think) was a visa run / top up which isn't allowed either. His GoFundMe was suspended while they investigate his story and immigration experts think he really didn't know what he was doing.
