Do you believe that? Basic maths. The amount sent back has increased by 13% as stated in the article. Inflation is at 6.7%. IBON is not an independent think tank, just browse their output. Bayan Muna is the communist party. The last survey from the end of September showed a bounce back in support for Duterte to 70% from 65%.

    1) Duterte ordered the killings - except no evidence can be found so move to

    2) A culture of impunity, no police charged, Duterte would pardon them anyway

    3) A culture of impunity, none of those charged have been convicted

    4) convicted, oh well it is Duterte's fault whatever, perception is reality regardless of the facts as EC says.

Oh and as usual the report has factual errors, do journalists not do any research?

They were sentenced to "perpetua" which is 40 years. The minimum they can do is 30 years.

Corrupt and violent police in the Philippines, never happened before Duterte FFS.

Barely mentioned in the media, and not at all in the international media: Attorney Glen Chong testified in front of the Senate on strange happenings with the automated election machines. The evidence was damning and clearly indicated Liberal Party involvement (this is apart from the tampering with the physical records).

His car was then attacked but he was not in it. His bodyguard who was received 15 bullet wounds. The police say he was involved in a shoot out with them. The Public Attorneys Office say he was tortured before being killed. To me that is much more important than the raid in the story (though not belittling that). Perhaps you could explain the lack of coverage?

A couple of years back people due to testify against Leila Delima were attacked and one killed. The car of the wife of another was sprayed with gunfire.

Farmers awarded land on the Aquino (Liberal Party) Hacienda by the Supreme Court were refused their land so went on strike. The police shot them killing some and one of their children.

Hungry farmers blocked a road, the Liberal Party politicians ordered the police to open fire killing some.

48 people, mostly journalists mowed down a few years back under the Liberal Party. No one has been convicted yet.

Don't try and make out this violence is to do with Duterte and the war on drugs. There are no more killings now thanbefore. It is to do with corrupt police and corrupt politicians and corrupt journalists all lining each others pockets.

For those who amusingly fell for the media reports and predictions of Duterte's falling popularity... oops.

This is the satisfaction rating which is the lowest. To follow is the approval and trust rati gs which have always been higher.

Amazing how ignorant you can be (well actualky it isn't(.

Name any single critical press that has been shut down (and that is the three main tv stations and most of the national press). You really should have no problem naming one.

Of the dozens of opposition lawmakers name those that have been imprisoned. So the communists who have called for his overthrow, liberal party vocal critics, tv presenters, etc etc - how many in prison?

    Impress me with YOUR knowledge.

For everyone else the first answer is zero, the second is one - though she is still free to make daily press statements so is far from silenced.

And the troll starts 2019 as he finished 2018.

So a story that has been told several times before about something that may or may not have happened 60 years ago (yes that is sixty years ago) when he was a young boy is much more important than a bomb blast that happened yesterday killing two and injuring over 30.

I have a feeling that if ISIS detonated a bomb in Europe it would have been considered more important. Politics above humanity for the BBC it seems.

On the story, the main point was that the priest hearing the confession used the opportunity to sexually abuse Duterte, the BBC seems to have run out of space before they could get to that. Oh and what Duterte as a boy did was wrong, he admitted it was wrong which is why at the time he went to confession.

There is no outrage by the way. No one is talking about it. Gabriela is another communist party organisation. Duterte said last week he would destroy the communist party, hence their outrage over this.

I know some think everything in the SCMP is the truth but today's article about jailing 9 year olds as part of Duterte's war on drugs:

The 9 year old limit for criminal responsibilty was the recommendation of a committee. The Bill going though Congress reduces it to 12 so above the international average.

There was never a suggestion to jail children. They would not be criminals but "children in conflict with the law". As a last resort they would, as in other countries, be sent to child rehabilitation centres. The primary focus is on the parents, making the child criminally responsible allows the parents to be punished or compulsory parenting education. It also provides the funding for all of this, currently there is almost nothing for caring for child offenders who are often victims themselves.

Basically the Philippines will be more progressive than most other countries, but the media can't say that - it has to be outrage.

Also passed on second reading a Bill to legalise medical marijuana.
