Don't think this has anything to do with dictatorship.
Many countries struggle with religious extremism and have their own ways of dealing with it.
Clearly the European ways and the Chinese ways are different. But actually talking to a few normal Chinese people over here, you will discover that their approach is massively popular. If it wasn't, the government would change things, rapidly.
I am not aware of any democracies that have done anything like this.
Does that make them right?
What do you mean by Chinese? I have not seen many positive comments from chinese nationals who end up in these camps.
Turkey is a democracy
India is a democracy
Even Burma is a democracy-ish.
They have all taken a different approach to extremism to the 'West'. This isn't political - it is cultural
Democracies have illegally invaded a foreign country. When shit didn't go as planned they went from house to house to terrorize the local population. 16 years later and it's still a shitzone. There are still plenty of conflict zones, bombs still go off from time to time, children do not receive proper education, and poverty and unemployment is rampant. It's one one of the most horrific crimes of the 21st century. If the West wants to be taken seriously, they need to perform better than that. In the end, the best model wins and not some textbook definition of how things ought to be.
Pretty obvious that when you throw rocks while living in a house of glass, you run a big risk. Guess then Turkey will once again have to go hide under the American skirt... I'm not sure you could say that the Uighur treatment is worse than what the Turks have done to the Kurds. Neither are commendable, it's just laughable when someone like Erdogan does that.Original Post Deleted
