Huawei CFO arrested in Canada, to be extradited...

Lesson for those of you who may be dodging the US. Don't transit through some countries...

Wanzhou Meng, who is also the deputy chair of Huawei’s board and the daughter of company founder Ren Zhengfei, was arrested in Vancouver at the request of U.S. authorities.

“Wanzhou Meng was arrested in Vancouver on December 1. She is sought for extradition by the United States, and a bail hearing has been set for Friday,” Justice department spokesperson Ian McLeod said in a statement to The Globe and Mail. “As there is a publication ban in effect, we cannot provide any further detail at this time. The ban was sought by Ms. Meng.

Quite agree. Even though Canada allows allot of nationals into their country, it is within US periphery to snatch people away (though US authorities does it through legal channels). Just like how China does with people in HK (done illegally).

    Huawei Finacial Chief Arrested

Arrested in Canada at the behest of the U.S. This strikes me as kind of a big deal and the chance this has a positive outcome is dwarfed by the chance that this is pouring gasoline on smoldering embers.

"The detention without giving any reason violates a person's human rights."
What about the booksellers they pinched from various places without reason.

Am I the only one thinking this:

It is hard to overstate the symbolism and significance of this event. Huawei is the crown jewel of Chinese tech and Ms Meng is effectively its princess.

I suspect if you dig deep enough all major companies bend the rules a little. Watch out for retribution arrests

This is more then a little based on some of the information coming out now, dodging Iran sanctions and defrauding by using Hong Kong front company:

And they used HSBC to do the business transaction with Iran. Other thing to note, what was really funny was that she used a powerpoint presentation to defend bail hearing. I always figured if you were not guilty they would have subpeona the bank transactions as evidence.
