No - thousands of people died, of a variety of avoidable causes. And while this is certainly more tragic than there being air, it is in no way more newsworthy. Regarding gun deaths in the US, there is practically no one in the US left without the information needed to form an opinion.

I think its more than that. The following are not wholly my words, I've shamelessly copied and pasted parts of them but I'm in 100% agreement with them:

In the last 3 Days:
•White man kills 5 women in FL
•White man kills 5 ppl in LA
•White man caught w/plans to mass murder women
•2 White Men plead guilty to bombing a Mosque & plans to bomb abortion clinic

There is muted coverage in the press and no mention at all from the govt.
Imagine if you will one or all of the above were attributed to Muslims/Immigrants/Mexicans/Black men..
Would it make news? Would parts of the govt be howling about it, a wall, closing borders etc etc.
But because its all white men.....crickets.

4) I have read about myself (WaPo, not exactly a fringe outlet).
1) and 2) - A Google News search shows reports in practically all US News outlets (Fox news excepted, not surprised if they didnt report but equally not surprised if thats not a source on top of Google's news feed).
3) I couldn't find exactly what you're talking about, but that might be because your line was unspecific.

I am (un)happy to concede that there is plenty of racism in the US (and as to the current administration, water is wet). But it's simply factually false that there is 'crickets' in terms of reporting. There is plenty. The media is doing exactly what it should be doing, _but people stopped caring_. And hence it drops from the front page very quickly.

Granted, crickets is an exaggeration. They all received bits of coverage but none received what I would have expected to be more extensive coverage.

Yes, it does, drop very very quickly while killers of a different ilk seem to get a lot more.

Here, do this unscientific experiment, a couple of searches.

Google for Zephen Xaver
and then
Google for Wilbur Ernesto
Look at the first 2 pages of results...

One of them is full of national big headlines, including a wikipedia and snopes entry
The other one is mostly local papers and no mention on wikipedia.

Both are pretty sinister and horrible crimes but the reporting, the frequency and areas of coverage are quite different.

One of many. Sadly another mass shooting that isn't at an emotive location such as a church or school is not 'new' so doesn't make the news. Obviously there is a threshold on the number dead.

Is this the Wilbur Ernesto one? It was Nevada and he's hispanic. Seems the 5 happened over a period of a few days so it's more isolated incidents committed by the same individual. Less of the 'WOW' factor i guess.
