    It looks like the culture hasn't been properly reset back to safety-first at Boeing. Pretty surprising the CEO can botch this up this badly.

    To try and shift some of the blame onto the pilots is unpleasant.

    in the western world, unlike in japan, apologizing publicly can mean quite a fair bit of later legal implication where victim families are going going to sue... not admitting mistake is the right strategy and they can probably come to a legal settlement with the airline/victims later..

    In which case the simple answer would have been lets wait until the full investigation results are known

    so i guess he did tried to avoid but he couldn't as it was result announcement face the public time ?
