Bercxit - Bercow out as speaker

    He will be missed.

And he has announced his resignation in his usual theatrical manner with class. Worth a watch (6 mins of your life well spent).

A very hard act to follow. The Tories had announced they were going to contest his seat in the upcoming election which goes against tradition.

The date Bercow has chosen is beautiful. By stating on or before 31st October, he is ensuring that the current minority-led house will elect his successor. A House of Commons in which the Conservatives, who announced they would ignore convention and stand a candidate against the Speaker, now have a deficit of 23 votes.

I would like to see Harriet Harman, who previously said she would be interested in the role, put herself forward.

Did he just say that he does not give a "flying pudding" or did I mishear that?

Sounded like "flying flamingo" to me.

I guess a flamingo is closer to a duck than a pudding is.

Yep "flamingo". Flies like a duck but starts with an F .

Excellent Mr Speaker. He is really angry.
