Unless if we consider personal power politics. If Xi does not have as firm a grip on power as we would like to believe. He does have critics within the CCP after all. If we consider the possibility he's actually more desperate than we would like to think, then warding off domestic critics by creating an external enemy would make sense.

    Alternatively, it could be the opposite scenario. Xi is in such absolute control he decides everything. His advisers are too afraid to contradict him, even if they think he is making a mistake. So even if they know China provoking India is not the right move, they don't dare tell their boss.

    PLA is already at forward posts on entire India-China border stretch ....

    Such angry response only implies that they're badly hurt (Psychologically). India has to trump-up defense systems.
