Australia & China: Disengagement or Decoupling?

Australia has always punched below weight economically-speaking. It's gotten fat on digging resources out of the earth and harvesting things that grown on it that other countries want to buy. They need to produce more value-added products. Not sure they can do that with a population the size of large Chinese city.

The guy's name doesn't sound Chinese, more like Vietnamsse or Laotian. Of course, that doesn't mean they can't be hired by another foreign actor unrelated to their ethnic background.

Australia's PM was just in Tokyo the last few days (back in Aus in quarantine now). Meeting the new Japan PM, signing a defence pact, agreeing on joint Australia/Japan military exercises in the South China Sea.

The Aussies are pretty good at stirring up shit and pissing off the Chinese
