    Biden has moved ahead of Trump in Michigan. If Biden can hold on to every state he currently leads, he wins with 270ev.

    Lol, what's that? Are the reporters from the first three receiving information way before the other two?

    @hannah01, the state is "called", it's not that all the votes are counted already, but that with expert analysis they think it's a mathematical highly significant improbability for the opposite result, and so they 'Call it' as won. However the mathematical analysis they use is not universal so there can be some disagreement in whether a state is ready to be called or not.

    Different media have different levels of tolerance (risk) on what they are prepared to 'call', the more conservative (like the BBC) is likely to be more risk averse in calling earlier.

    Indeed the BBC has a disclaimer saying this much on their page.
