Unicef Launches UK Domestic Emergency Response

For the first time UNICEF has launched a domestic emergency response in the UK to help feed children hit by the COVID-19 crisis.

The UN agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide has likened the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on youngsters to that of the Second World War.

Good idea. The food looks a lot healthier than the average British breakfast.

Because Rees-Mogg would have an understanding of hunger and poverty.

"UNICEF aims to reduce child mortality all over the world by working to reach the most vulnerable children, everywhere"

There will always be a need for non-government bodies to administer social support to the most vulnerable. These NGO's are nimbler and find ways to reach the most vulnerable that broad government schemes do not.

Unesco is a pan-government agency that should have a remit to aid children in parts of the world where governments and hence charitable organisations do not to offer support to the most vulnerable. The UK has a well established safety net and a mature charity network to help plug the gaps.

Unesco taking money from areas of the world that lack the basic systems to give it with what appeared co-ordinated press coverage to needy kids in a developed country looks like a political / publicity stunt.
