    Some people are incredibly selfish.

Boracay is one of several places open for domestic tourism with around 400 people a day going there. Only requirement is a negative test within 72 hours before arrival.

Three total dickheads who were positive faked negative certificates. They have been charged and face up to six years in prison.

A lowering of the whole of the Philippines to level 1 from March 1st had been recommended (most of the country already is at level.1). Resistance from.some Manila mayors so.might not happen there yet.

Basically everything is open except schools. Masks still mandatory and reduced capacity in cinemas, churches, theatres, bars, public transport. Restaurants doing a roaring trade with no plexiglass . International travel and even domestic travel still restricted.

The Philippines first vaccine (Pfizer) due in an arm next week with the nurse to give it identified.

148 million doses from 7 suppliers due by q3 this year. 70% of population planned to be vaccinated by end of this year (IF they can be persuaded).

Australia is manufacturing the AstraZeneca vaccine locally in Melbourne, between now and October enough to cover our population of 25 million people 3 times over. So an extra 50 million people. If we don't hoarde it, maybe we could give some to our friends across the Tasman? Hey we could even give to Hong Kong if China stopped dicking us around and slapping tarrifs on everything we export. Oh well, I'm sure other countries will be grateful instead.

There is gonna be a massive oversupply of vaccines in some parts of the world by mid year. Many people don't need to get vaccinated at all. There's no way NZ's high risk will be waiting until the end of the year.

Healthy, young volunteers will be infected with coronavirus to test vaccines and treatments in the world's first Covid-19 "human challenge" study, which will take place in the UK.

The study, which has received ethics approval, will start in the next few weeks and recruit 90 people aged 18-30.

They will be exposed to the virus in a safe and controlled environment while medics monitor their health.

Metro Manila mayors vote 9-8 in favour of easing to level one restrictions on March 1st and schools may start very limited face to face teaching after Easter.

Open beaches don't lead to an increased number of cases - not that the HK government will listen

That much has been obvious since before covid existed, this represents pretty clearly how many people over-react to risk.

We STILL see people on social media in HK complaining that beaches should remain closed because of the risk. And plenty here on Geo who argued for their closing in the first place.

And one in particular who continues to defend govt decisions in every context.
