There seems to be utter silence from the EU on Covid-19 Policy except the desireto have the EU flag on vaccines that was mooted sometime back. What is the point of a pan-region body when it hides away severe issues affecting all the regions and those regions would benefit from some centralisation of information and direction.

Brazil yesterday reported 89,000 cases and 3,950 deaths.

That is what you get with a president who believes people who are concerned about covid are whiners and paranoid because it is only a little flu, that there should be no lockdowns because their impact is worse than the virus, and mocks mask wearing. Luckily such views are fringe or else there would be a lot more Brazils.

Another way to put it is Brazil is what you get when you have a Trump-like "populist" running a developing country rather than a developed country. If there is a silver-lining in this, it will serve a lesson to the developing world that the likes of Bolsonaro is no solution to their problems.
