Oh well... I will stick with twitter polls for real trend spotting.
One thing I do like to look at is the number of different reaction emojis on a political story. So a story comes up saying so and so is really doing a great job and is so popular then you look and there are 11k reactions of which 10k are the laughing emoji. Gives you a clue to what some people really think of that politician.

One thing that I have noticed is Marcos is getting a lot more positive than negative reactions. In a little story mentioning Marcos on a Facebook page for my city (which is not a Marcos stronghold) of 105 reactions 98 were positive. Not scientific but my feel is there is a lot of support out there.

Though to be fair not all journalists are against her. The Communist Party support her and defending press freedom. Perhaps they could have a word with Beijing?

Fake news queen. So many examples but here are two.

Remember when the lone man went into a casino in Manila firing a gun and set fire to it. A number of people his in an upstairs toilet and died from smoke inhalation.

Because of gambling the man had lost his government job, his house and his family. He had just received a letter banning him from all casinos in the country. He deliberately shot in the air, the deaths were not intentional. He had no links to terrorism.

But for weeks Ressa insisted on the line that he was an ISIS terrorist, even revealed his ISIS name Mohammed al Luzon! Zero evidence to support her story but she claims to be a terrorism expert. Publishing internationally that Manila is subject to terrorist attack is very damaging to the important casino industry in the Philippines.

Second: Rapper "exposed" Senator Go, Duterte's aide and closest friend, as corrupt by being involved in a Korean warship purchase. They wouldn't back down even when this was denief by the navy and the Koreans because they had "documentary evidence" . Full Senate hearing called, televised. Turns out their sole "documentary evidence" was a post it note from someone else. A complaint landed on the other person's desk about the warship purchase, Go was in charge of complaints so the other person sent it the dept of defence saying "refute this and send to Go" on a post it. Trying to destroy someone's career with zero evidence.

When she won her award not a single professional columnist in any media across the political spectrum congratulated her.

But she is the darling of the international media and the source of most of their stories, the BBC in particular.

I know online polls are crap but at least this one is from the Manila Bulletin, one of the most trusted and respected papers. Compare the numbers after hours compared to Rappler's after a week. All names of voters are displayed. "We will not be taking our poll down". Nice dig.

    Marcos 439k
    Robredo 149k
    Moreno 12k
    Bato 3k
    Pacquiao 1.5k
    Lacson 1.4k

(Angry face which was not even an option got 1.9k)

Perhaps we will have a two horse race? I think the top two are very over voted but who knows until we get a proper survey.

From everything I have seen Marcos does have the potential votes. Not saying he will win but it is well within possibility.

    Oh the beautiful hypocrisy.

Ressa wins the Nobel prize for defending press freedom and free speech.

Ressa who is totally free to say and publish what she likes, has never had an article censored or removed.

A petition is put up on Change.org calling for the recall of her prize. Gets to 120,000 signatures and then is removed.

Complain about her award on Facebook then expect to get mass reported to Facebook's independent fact checker in the Philippines. That is Ressa herself. Get suspended for thirty days. Silenced, censored.

Wow, you really seem to have a beef with her. But I suppose there are more worthy peace prize winners I can think of...

    As do so many.

This week there was a motorcade for Robredo. All other media outlets reported "hundreds" of vehicles. Rappler said 4,000 or 5,000 vehicles. When it was pointed out there were not enough main roads in the city for this number of cars they said "we counted bicycles". Rappler wouldn't know the truth if it bit it on the arse.

Least trusted media outlet in the Philippines.
