Marcos the next President of the Philippines?

First of the big company surveys in, and confirms what I had been picking up on Facebook but didn't give it too much credibility

Marcos with 47% and a massive lead.

This of course is before the entrance of Bong Go, Duterte's nominee.

He doesn't have the authoritarian and corruption-seeking stench of his parents does he?

Depends who you ask. He has been a national politician for over 30 years with no hint, but then he has not had Presidential power.

They are throwing everything at him at the moment but nothing is sticking, as you can see from the polls. Every poll including the social media ones shows the same result.

Well so long as he is much better than his dictatorial Dad and utterly corrupted Mom, I am willing to give him a chance...

I know I said, but this is too funny.

So I said they were throwing everything at Marcos, here is the latest. He is the Manchurian candidate.

By Robles, so you immediately know it is crap.

Shall we ignore the fact that Robles, like Rappler, has received funds from the NED (aka CIA). That information is publicly available.

She mentions the American support for Magsaysay, who died in a mysterious plane crash assumed by many to have been a CIA organised accident.

She completely ignores the more recent and much more significant massive support for Marcos senior from America.

I have seen nothing to suggest Marcos Jr is in league with China. As to Duterte being a Manchurian candidate, Duterte met with the US Ambassador AFTER he was elected seeking US support against China but was rejected.

Robles is one of two independent fact checkers for Facebook, the other is Ressa.

Duterte's nomination, Senator Go, has withdrawn from the presidential race.

Isko Moreno, Manila Mayor and Presidential candidate has switched from the opposition to be a gushing Duterte Sr supporter and says he would be honoured to be his candidate. Standard Philippine politics.

First killing of the election, a mayor in the south was shot dead.

Marcos and Duterte Jr are still miles ahead. Marcos controls the north, Duterte the south. So they held a motorcade outside their bases in Manila and completely shut the traffic down.

I really can't see any other outcome.

The debates in the Philippines are usually relatively polite. This is from the section where the candidates ask each other questions (2016)
