    “Novaxx” Djokovic

That Djokovic case is just puzzling. That dude was tested positive in December 2021, and following the positive test he did...... nothing! No quarantine, no isolation, no mask.

    What an irresponsible prick!

Djokovic case is still dragging on in Australian court. This morning the judge let him out of the detention hotel where he is staying due to technical issues with live feed so they have to move him to another location (members of ther public kept joining the zoom call making noises and seems the court officials dont know how to use the "mute all" function in zoom)

Seems the crux of the case now, Djokovic thought he had a medical exemption because he contracted covid in the last 6 months, but in Australia this is not a valid reason for exemption like it is in other European countries. Also the court documents reveal that Djokovic tested COVID positive on December 16th. On this day, and few days after this, there are video's of him in Serbia handshaking people at events, unmasked, etc. Under Serbian law, he should have been home quarantine for 5 days if he knew he had COVID. So there is a little bit of questioning of the timelines going on.

Also is obvious Australia has messed up quite embarrasingly, seems the Tennis officials giving incorrect information to players that if you've recently had COVID you can be exempt.

Also the case has shone a light on Australia's poor and inhumane treatment of refugees. eg In the same hotel Djokovic is detained in, one guy arrived when he was 15 years old, he's now 24 and still detained. Never committed a crime in Australia, detained for 9 years.

I still think Djokovic is a dickhead, but Australia shooting themselves in the foot and completely screwed up, he will attract a lot of sympathy now. I kind of hope he gets released and can play now (so we can boo him on court ).

Saw Mehdi interviewed on Al Jazeera. Man, even the US does not suck this much regarding asylum seekers (and that's saying a lot).

    BUT BUT BUT

Government may attempt to cancel visa again
While the court has ruled in Djokovic's favour, government lawyer Chris Tran said Australia's immigration minister may consider cancelling Djokovic's visa again.

Under Australia's immigration law, the minister has exceptional powers and discretion to cancel visas for whatever reason. Mr Tran did not specify the grounds under which Djokovic's visa could be cancelled again.

The judge noted that if the minister made that decision, Djokovic could be banned for three years from Australia.

Wasn't aware of this situation at all. Very sad.

I remember Novak's mother complaining that he was in 'jail' and thinking she was exaggerating. Effectively is is a jail. Surprising that they sent him here for 4 days. Not a sensible decision from their PR point of view.

    Farage celebrates Djokovic release
Nigel Farage has tweeted his reaction to Novak Djokovic's release.

Mr Farage has been outspoken in his support for Djokovic and flew to Serbia ahead of the tennis player's court hearing.

His stance has already drawn plenty of mockery on social media given he is the UK's best-known Brexit-backing politician who called for tighter control of Britain's borders.
