Pretty sure Putin would have factored worst case sanctions into his decision making. The West won’t solve this. We need another Gorbachev and that ain’t happening anytime soon.

Putin personally is well insulated from any sanctions. There is little doubt he has placed his very considerable net worth in places where the US and its allies can't get at. However, for the rest of the country, for Russians in general, they will be severely impacted from the sanctions. It is almost certain US will cut-off Russia from SWIFT.
